The Arc in the Sky

The Riga Project Choir's program, "The Arc in the Sky," introduced listeners to the monumental work of American composer Kile Smith. In three concerts, the Riga Project Choir and conductor Christopher Walsh Sinka presented the Latvian premieres of Smith's GRAMMY-nominated, concert-length work "The Arc in the Sky." Featuring texts by the American poet and ascetic Robert Lax, the piece brings together ecstatic energy, lyric beauty and fascinating jazz influences. "The Arc in the Sky" is one of the most important choral works of the past 25 years.

The Riga Project Choir was honored to have Kile Smith in attendance for these performances. The concerts were product in collaboration with the United State Embassy in Latvia, the National Library of Latvia, and the Riga City Council.
