St. Anna's Lutheran Church, Jelgava November 3rd, 2019 Old St. Gertrude's Lutheran Church, Riga Anton Bruckner: In the Chapel of Linz The Riga Project Choir opened its second season with a program dedicated to the works of Austrian Romantic master Anton Bruckner. The central work of the program was Bruckner's grandiose Mass in E Minor for choir and wind instruments, during which the choir was joined by 15 talented musicians from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. While Bruckner is best known as a masterful symphonic composer, he also contributed several important works to the choral repertoire. Best known among these works are his motets, as well as several large pieces for choir and orchestra. Together with Bruckner's mass, the program included three of the composer's most famous a cappella motets. |
